What is the minimum / maximum size order you can fulfill?
Whether you're after 25 pounds or container loads closer to 100,000 pounds, American Organic & Natural Spices can deliver your needs. When working with our R & D division on a new blend, we can also arrange smaller samples for testing your new blend along the way. Get in contact today and find out how we can help you.
Do you provide samples?
Yes, current business customers may request samples of products that you are considering. For new customers, we suggest starting by filling out our application for credit below, so that it's as quick and easy to move forward on NET 30 terms when you find the product or products that are right for you. No waiting. Fast turnaround. Easy.
Is it possible to apply for credit?
Yes. NET 30 terms are available to approved business customers by filling out the application for credit (available here).
How do you ensure the food safety of orders? Are your methods organic / safe?
All of our products are sterilized by one of two organic friendly methods involving heat, air pressure and water. Steam sterilization is actually so effective that it is used by hospitals to turn highly pathogenic biological wast into harmless inert matter that can be safely disposed of in standard landfill. Our production facilities are also rigorously monitored and tested as well as being regularly inspected and passed by the FDA.
Do your facilities process anything with gluten / nuts / egg / dairy / soy?
Nope. We have our own dedicated processing facility in California, which rejects ingredients with any of these things. We're even certified 100% gluten free by the Gluten Free Gluten Intolerance Group and endorsed by the Vegan Society.
Who is your Organic / Gluten Free / Kosher certifier?
We're certified organic by the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture), Gluten Free by the Gluten Intolerance Group and Kosher / Kashruth by the Orthodox Rabbinical Council of California.
What do you mean when you say you are a "Green Business"?
On the surface, it means that we have been examined and awarded the Green Business endorsement by the bay area green business program. To us it means to much more. It means working with every step that we're involved with, to help make it sustainable for our grandchildren. It means using only 100% biodegradable packaging. It means reducing all of the resources our business uses. It means using certified Fair Trade products where they're available. It means sourcing our ingredients according to an ethical sourcing policy (which you can read on this site). It means working with our farmers to ensure the lightest footprint we possibly can on this planet we all call Home. For us, being a "Green Business" is more than a certificate. It's a dedication to making this world better for us all.
Is organic that important in something as small as spices?
Spices are small because they're concentrated. This means that everything is concentrated both the good and the bad. That's why gram-for-gram, spices are actually one of the most important things to be getting organic and high quality. Fortunately the difference in price between our organic spices and buying non-organic elsewhere, is a much smaller number of dollars, than you would find with almost any other food.
Do you have formal, ethical guidelines for the company?
Absolutely. They're too in depth to go into detail on this page, but in a nutshell: We follow a strict ethical sourcing policy (available here), a stringent sustainability policy (here), as well as using biodegradable packaging, using certified Fair Trade wherever it is available and being USDA Certified Organic.
I don't see the item I'm looking for on your list, can you source/get it for me?
